Hi, I’m Nick Thompson.

I’m a Longmont resident, transit advocate, cyclist, and former journalist who believes local stories deserve attention.

I launched Thompson's Colorado to cover Longmont, Boulder County, public transit, local government, growth and development, and exploring Colorado without a car.

Over the past year, I’ve attended public meetings, filed public records requests, interviewed elected officials and transportation leaders, and reported on issues that affect local residents.

Recent coverage has included:

- Longmont’s proposed Route AL airport bus to Denver International Airport
- RTD fare increase and service-cut proposals
- Data center development in the region
- A public-records investigation into Longmont’s Fourth of July fireworks contract
- Local transportation and infrastructure projects

You’ll also find stories about biking, buses, trains, hiking, and reaching some of Colorado’s most interesting destinations without driving.

My goal is simple: provide clear, accessible reporting that helps people better understand what’s happening in Longmont, Boulder County, and across Colorado.
